Nick Votava

Nick is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, holds a Professional Educators License, and has over 12 years of experience working with children and families in the Rockford region. Nick has worked within the Rockford Public Schools and Harlem Public Schools as a Truancy Interventionist, School Social Worker, Counselor/ Therapist.
Additionally Nick has worked as a case manager, mentor, and clinical therapist with Youth Services Network, Inc. Nick co-founded Rockford Barbell in 2019 with the mission of improving the social and emotional wellbeing of youth through mindful movement and trauma informed practices. Nick is employed as a trauma therapist and provides individual, family and school-based counseling services for children and families involved in Rockford Barbell’s programs.
Nick obtained bachelors degrees from the University of Iowa in Psychology and Studio Arts. Nick completed his masters degree in social work at George Williams College of Aurora University. Outside of work Nick enjoys being physically active through activities such as running, biking, weightlifting, etc. Nick enjoys hiking and camping with his family and is currently trying to reach the highest point of every U.S. state.
